Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate and Elise Tate have been married for seven years and have three kids. However, since the mid-2010s, rumors of the football player having an affair with NFL legend Russell Wilson’s former wife have bothered the family.

Selected by the Seattle Seahawks as a second-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Tate played for the side for three seasons before being abruptly traded in 2014.

Many believe it was because Tate was having an affair with the Seahawks‘ quarterback, Russell Wilson‘s former wife, Ashton Meem.

In an appearance on KJ Wright’s podcast in July 2024, the former NFL set the record straight and said the rumors were untrue and that his wife, Elise, and Meem are still good friends.

Tate also said that he had had a conversation about this rumor with Russell, and the quarterback told him he never believed in those rumors.

The former wide receiver said he exited the Seahawks due to the franchise’s reluctance to pay him. He signed with the Lions for $31 million and played with the side for four seasons.

Since retiring from the NFL in 2021, Tate recently appeared in the reality show Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. In 2024, he starred in one episode of The Wager.

Golden Tate’s Wife, Elise Tate, Is an Author of a Baby Sign-Language Book!

A University of Washington graduate, Elise Tate, wrote a baby sign language book after learning about it from her mom, who was a special education teacher.

In an interview with Square Baby, Elise shared that her mom knew the benefits of sign language and encouraged Elise to teach her daughter, Londyn, sign language.

In the 2021 interview, Elise shared that her two kids, Londyn and Tate Jr., knew the sign languages for water, eat, more, milk, all done, bath, please, and outside.

She also said that her older child, Londyn, pairs her signs with English words.

Speaking to Page Six, Elise shared that she first started teaching her kids sign languages when her husband was traded to the Eagles.

Elise said she used sign language to bridge the communication gap with her daughter.

Elise documented her daughter’s progress on social media and started receiving inquiries on how she taught her daughter sign language.

This led Elise to write her book Sign Me Up for a Happy Home, which included 15 basic starter signs.

Elise shared that she had taken help from Colleen Farrell, an expert consultant who is deaf and holds a Master’s Degree in Deaf Studies: Sign Language Teaching.

Before becoming an author, Elise worked for nine years at Harvey Nash. She joined Harvey Nash as a Technical Recruiter in 2010, and by the time she left the company in 2019, Elise was a Director of Business Development for their California branch.

On her Instagram, Elise has shared several family photographs, including pictures of her kids modeling for the children’s wear company Bambini Fashion.

The wide receiver said he noticed Elise from across the room and had tunnel vision on her all night.

It was love at first sight for the pair, but Elise further said that a higher power solidified their future. Elise said,

After a few years of dating, Tate popped the big question to Elise in 2015. He proposed to Elise the day after Lion’s season-opening loss to the Chargers.

Speaking to ESPN, Tate revealed that he had a big speech prepared for the day but couldn’t remember a single word other than, “Will you marry me?” when he saw Elise.

Tate took Elise to the beaches, saying he missed seeing them, and that is where the proposal took place.

After the proposal, the couple had dinner at Rustic Root with 25 to 30 people to celebrate their new beginnings.

Tate and Elise tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, two years after their engagement.

The former NFL player reportedly gifted his Elise a diamond tennis bracelet and got a Rolex day-date President wristwatch in return.

Tate and Elise are parents to three kids, Londyn, Golden Tate Jr., and Isaiah, with the youngest member joining the group in 2022.
