He also secured world titles in the road time trial in 2018 and 2019.

Recently, Dennis was sentenced to a suspended jail term in connection with the tragic death of his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins.

The incident occurred in December 2023 when Hoskins was struck by a car Dennis was driving during an argument outside their home in Adelaide.

While Dennis was not criminally responsible for her death, he pleaded guilty to an aggravated act likely to cause harm.

Moreover, the court heard that she had held onto the vehicle as Dennis attempted to leave, and he either did not know or was reckless to the fact that she was doing so.

Likewise, the judge acknowledged that Dennis had tried to de-escalate the argument by driving away.

As a result, Dennis received a suspended sentence of one year, four months, and 28 days and must follow a two-year good behavior bond.

They proudly displayed it as a tribute to his achievements.

Following the tragic demise of Rohan’s wife, Melissa Hoskins, the Dennis family gathered at Brenton and Debbie’s property in Adelaide for a private meeting.

Rohan Dennis’ Late Wife Melissa Hoskins’ Parents Hoped To Maintain A Good Relationship With Him!

Melissa Hoskins’ parents, Peter and Amanda Hoskins, spoke outside the court after Dennis’ sentencing.

They expressed their devastation over their daughter’s death but emphasized their focus on the welfare of the couple’s two young children.

Peter Hoskins stated:

It’s now time for us to move on, which would be Melissa’s expectations of us. Clearly, we want to continue to be an integral part of their children’s lives and their future.

Further, he acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining a relationship with Dennis but stressed that it was important for the children’s sake.

Hoskins’ mother stated in court that she believed Dennis would never intentionally hurt her daughter.

However, she noted that his temper was his “downfall” and needed to be addressed.

Melissa Hoskins’ family did not want Dennis to go to prison. They felt their grandchildren had already lost their mother and shouldn’t lose their father too.

They hope Dennis will apologize, but he hasn’t yet.
