Former NFL and Ohio State University guard Kirk Barton is married to Kimberly Barton, and the couple shares three young sons.
Kirk Barton is making headlines for tragic reasons; on June 21, 2025, Barton was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide after a fatal car crash in Ohio.
According to reports, Barton was driving a Ford pickup truck at high speed on U.S. Route 33 near Dublin, Ohio, around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say he was driving on the wrong side of the road when he crashed into a Lexus on West Bridge Street. The driver of the Lexus, 24-year-old Ethan Perry, died at the scene.
Barton suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital before being released into police custody. Officers noted that he had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol, and struggled to answer basic questions.
The former NFL player admitted to drinking before the crash, according to authorities. He now faces a second-degree felony charge of aggravated vehicular homicide and is set to appear in court on Monday.
Meanwhile, the incident has brought attention not only to his legal troubles but also to his personal life, including his marriage to his wife, Kim Barton, and their family.

NFL star Kirk Barton is married to Kimberly Barton, and the couple has three young sons.
The couple tied the knot in August 2016, as Barton shared during a 2023 podcast with Kerri Croft.
In the podcast, Barton spoke about how being a husband and father has changed him. He said,
Between having kids and getting older, it kind of should make you more docile. I don’t go out, I don’t golf, I don’t belong to a country club. I’m generally at home by six at the latest.
Speaking of Kim Barton’s profession, she is a registered dietitian based in Columbus, Ohio.
Kimberly Barton has worked as a clinical dietitian for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs since 2012.
Simultaneously, she has been serving as a registered dietitian at KB Method since 2019.
Kimberly earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Dietetics from Florida State University in 2007. Likewise, she did her dietetic internship at the Ohio State University.
Just days before the crash, on June 15, 2025, Kim posted a heartfelt Father’s Day message on Instagram, saying,
The boys and I are so thankful for you. What a great year and an even better one on deck. We hope you have the best day ever. Love you to the moon and back.
Before marrying Kim, Kirk Barton was reportedly married to Brittany Jordan in 2009, according to The Independent in Massillon, Ohio.
Brittany, also an Ohio State University graduate, worked at Nationwide Insurance. It’s unclear when Barton and Jordan divorced, but by 2016, Barton had married Kim.
