Marsha Kay Carroway Robertson, better known to millions as “Miss Kay”, is the beloved wife of the late Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson.

Best known for her appearances on the hit A&E reality series and for being the heart of the Robertson family, Miss Kay has long been cherished by fans for her warmth, strength, and Southern cooking.

Phil Robertson passed away at the age of 79, following a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, which was publicly disclosed by his family in December.

His death was confirmed in a heartfelt message shared by his daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, noting that Phil had “gone to be with the Lord.”

Phil Robertson Was A Former QB Playing For Louisiana Tech

Phil Robertson was an all-state athlete in high school, excelling in football, baseball, and track, which resulted in him getting a full scholarship to play football for Louisiana Tech.

There, he was a starting QB for two seasons in 1966 and 1967, having 12 touchdowns, 34 interceptions, and 179 of 411 passing attempts for 2,237 yards, but chose not to play in 1968.

Although Robertson could have pursued a pro career, he was more interested in hunting.

In fact, he was even approached with a recruitment to play professionally for the Washington Commanders, but he declined as it conflicted with his hunting.

Phil Robertson Found His Life Partner In 1964

Born on December 21, 1947, in the heart of Louisiana, Kay Carroway grew up as a cheerleader and debutante before falling in love with Phil Robertson.

The two began dating in 1964 and tied the knot in 1966, building a family and a life that would later become known to millions across America.

Their marriage endured challenges as Phil’s struggles with alcoholism and infidelity during their early years nearly tore the family apart.

But Miss Kay’s unyielding faith in God, commitment to her marriage, and the eventual transformation of her husband played a central role in holding the family together.

Their story of redemption was brought to the big screen in 2023 with the release of “The Blind,” a film produced by their son Willie Robertson and his wife Korie.

Kay Robertson, The Matriarch Of Duck Dynasty, Is Beloved And A Fan Favorite

Miss Kay rose to national fame during the run of “Duck Dynasty” (2012–2017), the hit reality series showcasing the Robertson family’s Duck Commander business and their strong Christian values, southern traditions, and quirky personalities.

She became a fan favorite for her down-to-earth wisdom, loving nature, and unmatched talent in the kitchen.

Her passion for home-cooked meals led to the release of her bestselling cookbook, “Miss Kay’s Duck Commander Kitchen: Faith, Family, and Food—Bringing Our Home to Your Table.

In it, she shared stories and recipes that defined her family’s way of life.

Despite her public image as the cheerful family matriarch, Miss Kay has faced personal challenges in recent years.

In June 2021, she suffered facial injuries after being bitten by her pet dog, Bobo, which required medical attention and reconstructive surgery.

Earlier in 2025, she was hospitalized again following a fall, though her family assured fans she was recovering well.

Through every hardship, Miss Kay has remained a pillar of strength for her four sons, Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep, as well as her 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

As fans reflect on Phil Robertson’s life, many are also honoring Miss Kay, who stood by his side for nearly 60 years, offering love, support, and guidance through the family’s many highs and lows.
