Former QB and Rising College Coach Ben Arbuckle and His Wife Lauren Hiner Share a Heartfelt Journey of Love, Family, and Oklahoma Football Tradition

This article was last updated by on

Ben Arbuckle is quickly becoming a household name in college football, celebrated for his innovative work as an offensive coordinator.

His time at Washington State University and now at the University of Oklahoma has showcased his talent for building record-breaking offenses, guiding quarterbacks like Bailey Zappe and Austin Reed to impressive passing milestones.

But beyond the sidelines, Ben’s heart belongs to his wife of seven years, Lauren Hiner, and their son, Hudson Ron.

Ben and Lauren’s romance began with a moment straight out of a football fairy tale.

Lauren, raised in a devoted Sooner family, went on her first date with Ben to the 2012 OU-Notre Dame game.

The energy of that game sparked more than just team pride; it ignited a connection that would shape their future.

That shared love for Oklahoma football remains a cornerstone of their relationship, especially now that Ben serves as OU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, a role he took on December 2, 2024, after two successful seasons at Washington State.

Ben frequently speaks about Lauren with admiration, calling her and their son, Hudson, born in August 2022, the most important people in his life.

He said-:

“Most important people in my life are those two, Everything I do has those two in mind.”

As the Arbuckles settle into life in Norman, Oklahoma, Lauren and Hudson are embracing their new home, finding joy in the community and its deep football roots.

Lauren Hiner is not only Ben Arbuckle’s Wife but also a Dedicated Professional with Remarkable Resilience

Born to Mary Artho Hiner and Mark Hiner, Lauren grew up alongside her sister, Kylie, who had autism.

The sisters shared a deep bond, but sadly, Kylie passed away in 2017 at just 25 years old.

In her memory, a playground at Conner Park in Canyon, Texas, was named after Kylie, a heartfelt tribute to her lasting impact.

Lauren’s compassion led her to a career in occupational therapy.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in health sciences from West Texas A&M University in 2018, the same year Ben graduated with a dual degree in finance and economics.

She went on to pursue a master’s degree in occupational therapy at Texas Woman’s University in Houston.

Today, Lauren works as an occupational therapist at Associates in Pediatric Therapy in Bowling Green, helping children overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Her work shows her commitment to making a difference, inspired by her sister’s memory and her own kind heart.

Ben’s journey to becoming a top offensive coordinator started in Canadian, Texas, where he starred as a quarterback at Canadian High School.

He continued playing at West Texas A&M University, where he not only excelled on the field but also earned a dual degree in finance and economics.

It was at West Texas A&M that Ben and Lauren’s paths crossed, laying the foundation for their life together.

After his playing days, Ben transitioned into coaching, quickly proving his brilliance.

At Washington State, where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2023 and 2024, he developed high-powered offenses that drew national attention.

His work with Bailey Zappe and Austin Reed showcased his ability to nurture elite talent.

In 2022, while at Western Kentucky, Ben helped lead the team to a 44-23 win over South Alabama in the New Orleans Bowl, a highlight of his rising career.

Now at Oklahoma, Ben is bringing his creative approach to one of college football’s most storied programs.

His fast-paced, high-scoring strategies have fans excited about the future of the Sooners’ offense.

For Ben and Lauren, Family is Everything

As they build their life in Norman, they’re creating new memories with their son, Hudson.

Ben often shares how much joy Hudson brings, whether it’s watching him grow or seeing him cheer for the Sooners.

Lauren, with her lifelong love for Oklahoma football, is thrilled to be back in a community that shares her passion.

Their story shows that behind every great coach is a supportive family. Ben’s dedication to Lauren and Hudson fuels his drive, both on the field and in life.

Lauren’s strength and compassion keep their family grounded, allowing Ben to focus on his career while knowing his heart is at home.
