Former Reading High School Hockey and Golf captain Brendan J. Donovan passed away in a tragic accident.
Born on August 10, 2000, Brendan J. Donovan attended Reading Public School and graduated from Reading High School in 2019.
He was the captain of Reading High School’s Hockey and Golf teams.
Later, Brendan attended Keene State College, where he developed a passion for the mountains and where he self-taught and became an avid skier and snowboarder.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health Administration, he worked most recently at Phillips Academy in Andover.
Brendan J. Donovan Died In A Tragic Accident At 24
Brendan J. Donovan passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 24, due to a tragic accident.
However, the exact accident details have not been revealed, as the investigation is ongoing.
Leila Cunningham Walden poured a heartfelt condolence and sent prayers to Brendan’s family. He wrote,

As per Brendan’s family, the visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley, and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street), Reading, on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Brendan will always be remembered for his contributions as captain of Reading High School’s Hockey and Golf teams.

Brendan J. Donovan Is Survived By His Parents And Two Siblings
Reading High School Hockey and Golf captain Brendan J. Donovan was the cherished son of Brian F. Donovan and Gail M. (Crosby) Donovan.
They are currently mourning the tragic loss of their son, Brendan.
Brendan’s mother, Gail, was born to Marilyn R. Crosby and Richard J. Crosby. Her mother, Marilyn, tragically passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.

In addition, Brendan is survived by his twin brother Sean E. Donovan and sister Kate M. Donovan.
Brendan grew up playing golf with his twin brother, Sean E. Donovan, who helped him earn a place on the wall as Junior Club Champion next to his Grandfather’s Club Champion plaque.
Moreover, his cousins, Patrick and Riley, helped him create a wide, ever-growing circle of friendship that spanned from childhood through young adulthood.
They are currently mourning the tragic loss of Brenda J. Donovan.

- Brendan’s daily routine involved him often stopping by Chapel Hill Drive on his way home from work. There, he would regale his mother with his witty stories and load up on his Mom’s home-cooked meals to take to Boston for both Sean and him.
