26-year-old former Rhode Island gymnast, Kyndel Yett, passed away on March 11, 2025, leaving behind her parents, Kathryn Yett and her boyfriend.

The reason behind her tragic demise remains unknown, and her family has yet to break the silence surrounding the details.

Yett’s mother, Kathryn Yett, and her father are deeply mourning her loss.

Kyndel Yett was in a relationship; however, details of her significant other are unknown, including his name.

That said, Yett had shared a couple of pictures featuring her boyfriend on her Facebook.

The exclusive news of Yett’s passing surfaced on March 13, 2025, when her cousin, Destiny Johnson, shared a post on her social media.

The Rhode Island College Gymnastics community expressed their sorrow in a recent statement,

We are heartbroken over the loss of Kyndel Yett. She was an incredible athlete with a positive spirit and a kind heart that will never be forgotten.

Kyndel Yett’s god brother, Averi Blunt, poured his heart out writing down his raw feelings in a lengthy post, which reads,

I am so heartbroken to hear that my godsister Kyndel Yett is gone. I’ve know you for so long. I’ll never forget this beach trip to Panama with you. I felt so loved and appreciated and got to be in your hilarious, goofy, sassy and energetic presence. You’ll always be loved i probably should have reached out more. I tend to be distant. I hope you know you were loved and i will never forget you. You were so hard working and aspirational.

Kyndel Yett Had a Successful Gymnastic Career!

Kyndel was a high school Gymnast for Carrollton High School and a West Georgia Gymnastics Center Club (WGGC) member. She attended WGGC from 2007 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2015.

Her journey in gymnastics began at a young age. A standout athlete, Yett earned the Rhode Island state champion title.

Throughout her athletic career, Yett was a standout performer from high school through her senior year in college.

In her senior year (2019-20), she averaged strong scores across events with notable performances on the vault and floor.

Her junior year (2018-19) saw similar success, with season highs and strong averages, particularly on vault and floor.

Though an injury cut short her 2017-18 season, Yett still managed commendable performances. As a sophomore (2016-17), she consistently excelled on vault, bars, and floor, achieving several season-best scores.

Her freshman year (2015-16) was marked by her recognition as the NCGA East Co-Rookie of the Year and her exceptional performances that set school records.

Before college, Yett’s high school career was distinguished by multiple varsity letters, MVP honors, and a state championship, solidifying her as a remarkable gymnast and leader.

Kyndel Yett Transitioned to Healthcare Administration After Her Gymastics Career!

After retiring from competitive gymnastics, Kyndel transitioned into a career in healthcare administration.

At the time of her death, Kett was working as a Benefits Payment Specialist at Care New England in Providence. She started as a student intern and was later promoted to human resources coordinator before securing her role as a benefits payment specialist.

She earned a bachelor of science in Health/Healthcare Administration Management and a Master of Healthcare Administration in Human Resources Management and Services from Rhode Island College.

She earned recognition as a Bourget Family Scholarship recipient and a Rhode Island State House scholar-athlete.
