Lisa Fernandez, a legendary figure in the world of softball and a respected coach at UCLA, has been married to Mike Lujan since 2002.

Current associate head coach at UCLA, Lisa Fernandez, born in Long Beach, California, is a former softball player.

At UCLA, Fernandez was a two-time national champion, four-time All-American, and the first softball player to win the Honda-Broderick Cup in 1993.

She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist with Team USA winning in 1996, 2000, and 2004 and setting an Olympic record with 25 strikeouts in a game.

She was also a key player in multiple World Championships and Pan American Games securing numerous gold medals.

Fernandez earned the title of #1 Greatest College Softball Player and was inducted into the USA Softball Hall of Fame.

Fernandez transitioned to coaching, becoming an assistant at UCLA and later an associate head coach in 2022.

From 2004 to 2008, he coached at Cypress, first as the junior varsity head coach and then as assistant varsity coach.

His return to Cypress for another season solidified his place as a trusted mentor for athletes.

At Cypress, Lujan focuses on refining outfielders’ technique, improving fielding skills, and instilling discipline.

He also contributes to the school’s freshman football team, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to coaching across different sports.

Lujan has also worked as a special education teacher, spending ten years teaching at Lexington before transitioning to Cypress.

He married Lisa Fernandez on August 9, 2002, and they have two sons, Antonio and Cruz.

Together, they create a balanced and supportive environment for their sons to thrive both academically and athletically.

His influence as a mentor and role model shapes the lives of young athletes, leaving a lasting impact on the teams and communities he serves.
