After a lengthy hospital and rehab stay because of poor health status, Stuart lost his long battle on September 25, 2025, at the age of 78.
He was born on April 10, 1947, in Hollywood, California, to the late Irvin and Lillian Gottlieb.
Gottlieb was an athletic individual; he played football at Fairfax High School and later attended the University of Colorado, where he continued his football career.
Moreover, Stuart Gottlieb was drafted by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys in the 10th round and later participated on the taxi squad for both the Cowboys and the Washington Redskins.
However, he ended his professional football career with the Canadian Football League, specifically with the Edmonton Eskimos, now popularly known as the Edmonton Elks.
Later, Stuart Gottlieb began his career as a counselor and house parent in group homes in California. He also worked as a football coach at the college and high school levels for numerous seasons.
Late Gottlieb lived his life in dignity with positivity around him. His demise has sent shockwaves of grief to his family, friends, and close ones.

Stuart Gottlieb is survived by his wife, Robin Logan Gottlieb; his sons, Nolan and Tyler Gottlieb; his daughter-in-law, Maggie Nolan Gottlieb; his grandson, Beniah Gottlieb; and his cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Following the passing of Stuart, his son Tyler Gottlieb shared a heartfelt message on social media. Tyler writes,
Early this morning, Dad’s journey came to an end. He was truly one of a kind, as anyone that knew Stu-Baby can attest. These last couple years have been tough ones, so I’m glad he no longer has to deal with those struggles physically. Miss you a ton already, dad… love you much.
