Lieutenant Bryan Wilson, a respected firefighter, loving family man, and proud St. Agatha High School varsity athlete, has passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a heart attack while off duty.

The announcement came directly from the Detroit Fire Department, which honored Wilson for his service and the lasting legacy his family has built within the department, spanning five generations since 1917.

The department shared in a public tribute,

“Today is a rough day for our Detroit Fire family. Lt. Bryan Wilson passed away from a heart attack suffered off duty earlier today. Our paths did not cross often, but I can’t remember seeing him without a smile on his face.”

Bryan Wilson was a pillar of the Detroit Fire community, following proudly in the footsteps of his great-grandfather and generations of Wilson men and women who dedicated their lives to serving the city.

In Bryan’s generation, four of his brothers and a brother-in-law have served with the department.

Bryan Wilson Was A Proud Aggie And Athlete

Before dedicating himself to firefighting, Wilson was known as a standout athlete at St. Agatha High School, where he played varsity baseball and football.

Former classmates and fellow alumni remembered him fondly as a true “Aggie,” beloved for both his strength on the field and his loyalty off of it.

One tribute read,

“THE AGGIE NATION…and the CLASS of ’91…has lost a brother. You served well, brother. Rest high on the mountain.”

The outpouring of love and grief from friends, coworkers, and family has been overwhelming, reflecting the profound impact Lt. Wilson had on the lives of many during his 52 years.

Bryan’s grandmother shared her own aching loss by writing,

“I lost my godson Bryan yesterday and am heartbroken 💔 We lived miles apart but he always had a very special place in my heart. Prayers to his wife Kristi, their daughters, and my whole extended family. Fifty-two years old is way too young to leave this earth.”

Bryan Wilson Was A Devoted Husband And Father

Lt. Bryan Wilson is survived by his wife, Kristi, and his daughters, whom he loved dearly.

Additionally, he is mourned by the entire extended Wilson family.

His life, though tragically cut short, stands as a shining example of selfless service, quiet strength, and enduring love.

He may be gone, but Lt. Wilson’s legacy will live on in the firehouses of Detroit, on the ballfields of his youth, and in the hearts of those who have called him family, teammate, and friend.

Rest in peace, Lieutenant!
