A former teacher and coach at Laredo Independent School District, Darla Hartman Palmer, has tragically passed away.
According to Darla’s Facebook handle, she was originally from Midland, Michigan, but lived in Lowell, Michigan.
Darla taught social studies at Laredo Independent School District from 1983 to 1994, in Laredo, Texas. She also taught history at Lowell Middle School.
Throughout her entire life, she managed to keep her details out of the media spotlight, so little is known about her private life.
Former Coach Darla Hartman Palmer Passed Away, Making Everyone Devastated
According to various sources, Darla Hartman Palmer, a former teacher and coach, passed away in July 2025. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Tim Stevens, who lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, took to his Facebook handle and mourned the tragic loss of Darla. He wrote,
We’ll miss you Darla Hartman Palmer! You were a great role model and one of the most caring people I had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you doesn’t say enough for all that you did for your students. Rest in peace.

Nate Fowler, the superintendent of the National Association of School Psychologists, released a statement and offered heartfelt condolences. She wrote,
It is with great sadness that we inform you of a loss to our school community. Middle School teacher, Darla Palmer, unexpectedly passed away this week. This is a tremendously sad time for our entire school district. We are deeply saddened by this news and extend our sympathy to her family, her current and former students, and the friends that she made throughout the district. We expect and understand that there will be a variety of emotions and responses to this loss. Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Darla’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment.
She will always be remembered for her unforgettable contributions as a teacher and coach at Laredo Independent School District.

Darla Hartman Palmer Lost Both Of Her Parents In 13 Years
Darla Hartman Palmer was born to her father, Darwin H Hartman, and her mother, Winifred “Winnie” Helen Hartman. She grew up with her sister, Rebecca De Waard, who is married to Dale De Waard.
Her father, Darwin, was born on December 5, 1931, in Chippewa Lake and lived in the Barryton area for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana.
Sadly, he passed away on May 3, 2011, at the age of 79. As per Darla, Darwin was robbed and killed while riding his bike.
On the other hand, Darla’s mother, Winifred “Winnie” Helen Hartman, was employed with the Midland Board of Realtors, where she served as the MLS secretary.
She enjoyed reading, bowling, camping, and going to antique car shows with Darwin.
Tragically, Winnie also passed away on June 28, 2024, 13 years after the death of her husband, Darwin Hartman.
On May 11, 2025, Darla took to her official Facebook handle and wished Winnie a happy Mother’s Day by stating,
Happy heavenly Mother’s Day, Mom. This is our first year without you. 😪 Miss you dearly. Until we meet again…….
