Former Texas Tech Cornerback Jalon Peoples Finds a New Home As He Commits to Play For NDSU!

This article was last updated by on

Jalon Peoples has recently made headlines after announcing his commitment to playing for North Dakota State University (NDSU).

Former Texas Tech cornerback Jalon Peoples‘ transition to NDSU became notable due to being a standout recruit and a player at Texas Tech University.

This high-profile transfer helps prolific players like Peoples garner more media and fan interest.

NDSU Has Set High Expectations From Jalon Peoples To Enhance The Team’s Secondary!

Hailing from Cedar Hill, Texas, Jalon Peoples has gained notoriety in college football due to his athleticism, agility, and coverage skills.

Therefore, his impressive defensive skills made him a highly-rated standout recruit. Moreover, he has second-team all-district honors in Texas 7-6A as a sophomore in 2019.

He played 195 defensive snaps for Texas Tech over two seasons, totaling eight tackles. Hence, these accomplishments made him noticeable in the league, landing an offer with NDSU.

NDSU signed its first FBS athlete through the transfer portal, former Texas Tech CB Jalon Peoples, on the eve of the FCS National Championship.

After losing All-American Safety Cole Wisniewski to the Texas Tech Red Raiders through the NCAA transfer portal last month, NDSU devised a grand strategy to acquire Peoples.

Since NDSU lost a high-impact player like Wisniewski, there was a power vacuum in the NDSU’s secondary.

Hence, they signed Peoples, a former Texas Tech CB, to address this issue. NDSU has set high expectations for him to enhance the team’s secondary.

His defensive prowess, FBS experience, and 2-3 years of eligibility left have made him viewed as an immediate and long-term option for their defense.

Since NDSU is a highly successful football program in the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision), players like Peoples can experience more growth and recognition if they want to establish their NFL career.

Despite its FCS position, NDSU has an excellent history of generating NFL athletes.

Moreover, the university’s football program is well-regarded. Thus, its reputation can help athletes get noticed by NFL scouts.

However, there is no denying that both NSDU and Texas Tech are equally appealing for different reasons.

While NDSU has emerged as an influential force in the FCS, winning nine national titles since 2011, Texas Tech participates in the FBS, especially the Big 12 Conference.
