Former Wadsworth Grizzlies Football Player Don Houston Passed Away, Leaving Family Heartbroken!

A longtime Wadsworth High School football fan and alumnus, Don Houston, took his last breath on October 29, 2025.

It was coach Justin Todd who shared the exclusive news on social media. He said Don was one of the first people he met when he moved to Wadsworth 10 years ago.

Coach Justin revealed that Don treated him and his family like his own since they moved there a decade ago.

He continued writing an eulogy about Don, saying he loved all Grizzly sports, especially football, and always supported the team.

A GREAT Grizzly passed away today. Don Houston is one of the first alumni of Wadsworth I met, he loved all Grizzly athletics and was a tremendous supporter of the football program

Todd revealed that even while in the hospital, Don was thinking about the Grizzlies. This speaks volumes about how much he cared about them. He wrote:

His last message to me while in the hospital was simple and straightforward…very Don like:
“Coach Todd, we need to finish this out and go undefeated. Outstanding class of 2025. Go Grizzlies! Thank you”

Coach Todd continued the post, writing:

Always with a great smile, quick wit & encouraging remark, I will miss Don very much! The Gridiron Club will not be the same without his spirit. Our prayers go out to his family, friends and all he made an impact on! Rest In Peace, my friend.

In no time, words of condolences started flowing across social media.

Robert C Heller wrote, “A great man, Coach and friend. I’ve known Don for many years. He will be missed and not forgotten. My prayers to his family.

Likewise, Kathi Gove Frantz penned, “Our sympathies to his family and friends and fans 🙏🏻 may Don RIP.”

Thus far, Don’s family hasn’t shared any details surrounding his funeral and memorial services.

Meanwhile, we extend our heartfelt condolences and pray for the strength of Coach Don Houston’s family and friends.
