Elijah Roberts played ice hockey wearing number 10 for the West Orange High School boys’ ice hockey team.
He started putting up numbers as a younger kid in the 2012-2013 season with 3 goals and 4 assists.
Then, in his final year, the 2013-2014 season, he really stepped it up and became one of the main guys they counted on offensively. He scored 11 goals and added 15 assists for a total of 26 points over the whole schedule.
Later, Elijah finished with 14 goals and 19 assists.
After graduating, he headed off to Mercyhurst University to study business marketing and earn his bachelor’s degree between 2014 and 2018.
There, Elijah stayed connected to hockey by taking on a role as the social media coordinator for the women’s Division I hockey team.
During his senior year, Elijah handled all the Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube stuff, plus covering games with live updates, photos, videos, editing promotional content, and coming up with ways to get more fans involved.
Before finishing school, he picked up some early experience in the sports world, too, with internships doing marketing and sales for the Erie SeaWolves minor league baseball team and event planning with the Erie Sports Commission.
Once he wrapped up college, Elijah moved into the professional side, starting with a job at Kings Supermarkets back home in New Jersey.
Then in 2018, he took a big step and joined Townsquare Interactive down in Charlotte, North Carolina, first as a social media coordinator.
He then quickly turned into sales team lead, and by late 2020, he stepped up to inside sales manager, a position he held for over five years until he passed away.
Elijah had been with the company for nearly eight years, from May 2018 until his last breath.
So far, the details surrounding his memorial, visitation, and funeral services haven’t been published by his family.
During this challenging time, we pray for Elijah’s extended family, friends, and colleagues.
Rest Easy, Elijah Roberts!
