A former Wetumpka High School athlete, Roderick Bowman, affectionately known as “Blade,” passed away in October 2025. Thus far, specific details about his demise are unknown.
Roderick Bowman was a standout athlete who earned All-State honors as one of the best basketball players in Wetumpka High School history.
During his senior year, he led the Wetumpka High basketball team to the Final Four, averaging an impressive 25 points per game.
After graduating from Wetumpka High, Roderick served four years in the United States Army.
Later in life, he worked as a truck driver, a job that kept him on the move and connected him to the community.
Off the court, Roderick was a man full of life. He loved playing cards and dominoes.
