Jacob Lozo, a native of Buffalo, New York, and former Williamsville North High School athlete and student, passed away by suicide in June 2025.
The Williamsville North High School community is heartbroken over the tragic demise of Jacob Lozo, a beloved student and football player who apparently took his own life.
On the football field, he wore jersey #41 and played with passion as a free safety, outside linebacker, middle linebacker, and kicker for the Williamsville North Spartans.
Off the field, he was a friend who listened, cared deeply, and made everyone around him feel at home.
Jacob Lozo is survived by his parents; however, neither of them has broken their silence on the tragic incident.
A 2024 graduate of Williamsville North High School, Jacob Lozo had plans to attend Niagara University, though his major was undecided.
Meanwhile, the devastating news of Jacob’s demise has sparked important conversations about mental health.
The Williamsville North football team shared a heartfelt tribute, saying,
Jacob was more than just a football player. He was a teammate, a friend, and someone who brought energy and heart to everything he did. His loss has left a huge hole in our community, but the impact he made will never be forgotten.

Jacob Lozo was a talented multi-sport athlete at Williamsville North High School and graduated in 2024.
During his time at the high school, he left a significant mark as a dedicated member of both the varsity football and baseball teams.
Discussing his football career, Jacob Lozo was a key member of the Williamsville North Spartans Varsity Football team, wearing jersey number 41.
Standing at 5’10” and weighing 170 pounds, Jacob played multiple positions, including free safety (FS), outside linebacker (OLB), middle linebacker (MLB), and kicker (K).
In the 2023-2024 Season in his senior Year, he played in 3 games, recording 5 receptions for 53 yards, averaging 10.6 yards per catch, with a longest catch of 13 yards and 1 touchdown.
Defensively, he had 1 solo tackle, 6 total tackles, and scored 6 points, including 1 touchdown.
In his junior year of the 2022-2023 Season, Jacob played in one game, catching one reception for 15 yards.
In his football career at Williamsville North High School, Jacob Lozo played in four varsity games, recording six receptions for 68 yards, one touchdown, and six total tackles.
Some of his notable moments include a 14-yard reception against North Tonawanda on September 17, 2023.
Not to forget, Jacob was ranked 7th in Section 6 A-1 for receiving yards during his senior year, showing his impact as a receiver.
He played in games against tough opponents like Clarence, West Seneca West, and Orchard Park, giving his all despite the team’s losses in those matches.
Likewise, Jacob Lozo was a standout player on the Williamsville North Varsity Baseball team, wearing jersey #16 and excelling as an outfielder and first baseman during the 2023 season.
A key contributor to the Spartans, he helped secure several victories, including an 11-3 win over Williamsville South on May 20, 2023, where he batted .333 with one hit, and a 10-0 shutout against Frontier on May 9, 2023, where he hit .500 with one hit and a .667 on-base percentage.
Jacob also played a role in a close 7-6 victory against Clarence on May 23, 2023, posting a .667 fielding percentage, and contributed to wins against Frontier (7-2) and Williamsville East (9-4).
Undoubtedly, Jacob’s skills, steady performance, and team spirit made a big difference at Williamsville North.
So far, the precise details surrounding his funeral services remain unknown.
