Rodger “PD” Terry, a true leader of the Fountain Inn Parks & Recreation Department, passed away after a battle with cancer.

He was hospitalized for about 12 weeks and passed away early Monday morning on January 5, 2026.

Rodger “PD” Terry was one of the most devoted public servants in Fountain Inn, whose decades of work helped shape the heart of the community.

On February 28, 1977, his service began in the City, and he dedicated over three decades before retiring on June 9, 2011. He served as a Recreation Director and built the programs that defined life in Fountain Inn for generations.

Under his leadership, countless children played their first sports games, families created memories at city events, and lasting friendships were formed on the fields and courts.

His consistent care and commitment left a permanent mark on the city’s spirit. Today, his legacy lives on actively in the joy and connection he fostered.

Rodger “PD” Terry was a beloved pillar of the City of Fountain Inn community who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

It will continue to shine in every child he inspired to try their best, every coach he supported with wisdom, every family he welcomed to the ballfields, and every community project he championed with infectious zeal.

No one ever prepares you for “with life comes death,” & man did this community just take a hit. PD Terry, you are so loved & will be missed tremendously. I’m so thankful for the love you poured into me over the years, & I’ll cherish every memory, especially the ones of you & Mr. Charlie behind home plate every single game, cheering us on! Rest easy, old man.

The Terry family will soon announce the details regarding a memorial service to celebrate his extraordinary life.
