Gone Too Soon: Delaware Early College School Grieves the Unexpected Death of Hornet Jayden Callender

A student-athlete from the Early College School (ECS) at Delaware State University, Jayden Callender, has passed away, leaving the community devastated.

Jayden was a young and loving member of the Delaware community who attended William Henry Middle School.

Delaware Community Mourns the Loss of Young Student Athlete Jayden Callender!

While not much is known about Jayden Callender’s passing, what is known is that he will be deeply missed by many.

His death was confirmed by the Early College School at Delaware State University’s social media page, where they shared a heartfelt message following his passing.

The school community also offered support and counseling services for anyone in need. In the caption, they wrote:

It is with deep sadness that we share the devistating news of passing of our Hornet, Jayden Callender. This can be an emotionally heavy time, so please reach out to a trusted adult to help with navigating your feelings. Tomorrow, Dec. 24, from noon to 1:00p.m., our counseling and administrative teams will be available virtually for any scholar or staff member who needs support. The Zoom link will be available on Schoology.

Following the post, many in the comments expressed their grief and support for the Callender family and shared their memories of Jayden.

A few of Jayden’s middle school teachers also expressed their condolences to the Callender family, saying he was a great kid in middle school.

While many were expressing their sorrow and sympathy, one user in the comments shared their understanding of the situation, saying:

I can only imagine the impact of this on his family, friends and the ECS Community. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time.

While everyone remembers Jayden in their hearts, he is survived by his family members, including Tara Callender.

As of now, the family has not scheduled funeral details for the public, but they may announce public visitation information soon.

As the family goes through this difficult time, we would also like to express our heartfelt condolences to them, his friends, and everyone who knew him.
