Nineteen years ago, on the 8th of November, Eddie Guerrero competed in what would be his final wrestling match, securing a place on SmackDown’s team for Survivor Series.
Tragically, he never made it to the event. Eddie passed away five days later, on November 13, 2005, leaving an indelible mark on the wrestling world and a profound loss for fans everywhere.
While Eddie’s legacy endures through his unforgettable matches and charismatic “Lie, Cheat, Steal” persona, his memory is also honored through the life and work of his wife, Vickie Guerrero.
Eddie and Vickie Guerrero met through mutual friends who set them up on a blind date at a nightclub.
Sparks flew between them immediately, and after three years of dating, they decided to marry in April 1990.

Later that same year, in October, they welcomed their first daughter, Shaul.
In 1995, they were blessed with a second daughter, Sherilyn.
Their marriage wasn’t without challenges.
In 2002, they separated for two years, during which Eddie briefly dated Tara Mahoney, resulting in the birth of his daughter, Kaylie Marie.
However, they reconciled and Vickie embraced Kaylie as part of their family.
Although Vickie wasn’t a fan of wrestling initially, Eddie introduced her to the sport, and she gradually began to enjoy it.
This introduction turned out to be the first step on Vickie’s own path into WWE, where she would go on to leave a significant impact in her own right, especially after her official in-ring debut in 2005 following Eddie’s passing.
Eddie Guerrero’s Wife, Vickie’s Journey In WWE
Following Eddie’s passing, Vickie joined WWE in 2007, initially as an assistant to SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long.
Initially starting as a soft-spoken figure, Vickie quickly evolved into a full-fledged WWE character, known for her powerful persona.
Her signature catchphrase, “Excuse me!” became her own rallying cry, as she embraced the role of a bold, often antagonistic, SmackDown General Manager.
As her character evolved, Vickie showcased her cunning and willingness to manipulate situations to her advantage.
Her devious persona led her to positions of power as General Manager of both SmackDown and Raw.
After a brief hiatus in 2009, Vickie returned to WWE as an Official Consultant for SmackDown, eventually aligning herself with Dolph Ziggler, whom she managed to a brief World Heavyweight Championship reign.
Her work in wrestling extended beyond WWE, as she joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2020, where she managed young talent and shared her expertise with a new generation.
Her recent departure from AEW marks yet another phase in her evolving journey, as she continues to pursue new projects and opportunities.
Vickie Guerrero Tied Knot With Kris Benson
In 2015, Vickie married Kris Benson, finding new happiness and stability after Eddie’s passing.
With Benson, who is not part of the wrestling world, Vickie embraced a new chapter in her life while continuing to honor Eddie’s legacy through her personal and professional life as well.
Her journey from “Eddie Guerrero’s wife” to a powerful figure in wrestling speaks of her resilience, creativity, and determination.
Though she found love again with Kris, her deep bond with Eddie and her commitment to the Guerrero name remain central to her story.
