But earlier this year, Gabby announced she was making her return. She began training about a year ago and hopes to make the five-woman 2024 Olympic team, which will be decided in June.

Last week, Douglas’ name once again took social media by storm. But this time around it was because of what her former teammate Simone Biles’ husband said.

Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, said he had no idea who Simone Biles was before they met, which angered thousands of Biles’ fans. So, they did a bit of their research and found Owens’s old tweets congratulating Douglas for her Olympic gold.

In episode 3, Gabby is asked whether she has a boyfriend. The Olympic gold medalist replied, “No, I do not have a boyfriend; I do not have time. All of my attention and focus was spent, you know, in the gym, training.”

Gabby added a pun during the conversation as she said she was already in a relationship, and his name was Jim…Nastics. Later in the show, Gabby’s older sister, Arielle Hawkins, supported her little sister’s decision.

Arielle said though Gabby needs a companion, a boyfriend would take too much work. She said Gabby’s dating issue would be solved if she adopted a cat.

But since then, Gabby hasn’t talked about her dating life. With Gabby returning to training and eyeing a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics, it won’t be hard to imagine that she wants all the distractions out of the way.

Gabby Douglas Return To Gymnastics

Earlier this year, in July, Gabby Douglas took to her Instagram handle to announce she was ready to return. Douglas shared a photo of her leaping across the beam, which excited thousands of her fans.

Douglas took the world by storm in 2012 after she became the first woman of color to win gold in the individual all-around category. She took a year off and began training for her second Olympics.

But at the time, many criticized saying she was only motivated by fame and money. Douglas was part of the 2016 Rio Games but fell short of winning gold in individual games.

Many believed 2016 to be Gabby’s last Olympic appearance as she left with tears. She was also scrutinized a lot on social media during that time.

Last year, in August, Gabby announced she was taking a break from social media to focus on her mental health. Before sharing that post, the Olympic medalist was seen spending most of her time on the farm. She had also shared pictures of her farm animals.

Earlier this year, in February, gymnastic coach Valeri Liukin confirmed to NBC that Douglas had been training “very hard” at his family’s World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Texas.

And after a few months, Gabby confirmed her return on social media. Last month, Douglas said in the Time Person of the Week podcast that she missed hearing the equipment flying through the air, and she is back because she loves the sport.
