A former athlete who played both football and basketball in high school, Gary Marvin Pederson, passed away on May 11, 2025.
Born on September 4, 1939, in Osakis, Minnesota, he was the son of Irene and Marvin Pederson.
During his youth, he was a popular athlete, but later joined the Air Force, where he served for almost two decades.

Gary Marvin Pederson was a talented athlete who played both football and basketball in high school.
While his athletic career was primarily at the high school level, he was well-regarded for his skills on the field and court.
His passion for sports continued throughout his life, as he remained active in weightlifting well into his older years, often challenging younger athletes.
Later, he served in the Air Force for 20 years and lived in various places with his family.
Gary was married to his high school sweetheart, Janet, and together they raised two sons, Terry and Rob, and a daughter, Tracy.
Throughout their marriage, they traveled extensively due to Gary’s 20-year service in the Air Force, living in places such as Washington, Minnesota, North Dakota, Japan, Ascension Island, California, and Wyoming.

After retiring from the military, he worked as a defense contractor and later as a handyman.
He was known for his love of coffee and donuts, his passion for weightlifting, and his appreciation for gardening.
Moreover, Pederson was passionate about carpentry and worked on many building projects throughout his life.
He moved to Bandon, Oregon, and kept himself busy by working as a handyman, using his carpentry skills.
Sadly, Janet and their daughter Tracy passed away before Gary. He is survived by his two sons, three grandsons, four granddaughters, and nine great-grandchildren.
His Passing has left a void in his family and community. He was a beloved member of society, known for his kindness, dedication, and service.
