Gary Dwayne Payton II, an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, comes from an athletic family, with his father being the legendary former NBA star Gary Payton Sr. and his siblings also being athletes.
Gary Payton II was born on December 1, 1992, in Seattle, Washington, as one of the three children of father, Gary Payton Sr., and mother Monique James.
He has two siblings: an elder sister, Raquel Payton Childs, and a brother, Julian Payton. Gary II also has a half-brother named Gary Payton Jr. from his father’s side.
Furthermore, following in their father Gary Sr.’s footsteps, Gary Payton II and his siblings began their athletic journey from a very young age.
While his sister, Raquel Payton Childs excelled in track and field while attending high school and later St John’s University, his brother Julian and Gary Jr. thrived in basketball like him.
Gary Payton II’s Younger Brother, Julian Payton is Former Collegiate Basketball Standout
Julian Payton is an American guard who played for the Oaklanders men’s basketball team at Lincoln University in Oakland, California, beginning his college career in 2022 under the guidance of his father, NBA legend Gary Payton.
Standing 5’11” (180 cm), he was draft-eligible in 2026.
He previously played at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, where he graduated in 2016 after starring as a 5’10” guard wearing jersey #10 on the varsity basketball team.
During his senior year, his team posted a 27–6 record, went 8–0 in league play to finish first, and earned a national ranking of #22 and state ranking of #2.
Following Bishop Gorman, he completed a post-graduate year at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix.
As a high-school senior, Julian was rated a 2-Star player, with scouts praising him as a wiry point guard with very long arms, big feet, terrific speed, quickness, and excellent court feel. His transition game, floater, three-point shooting, and vision on the break were standout skills.
At Lincoln University, Julian established himself as a strong and reliable member of the team, continuing to develop his game while carrying one of basketball’s most iconic surnames and forging his own identity on the court.
While very little information about his current profession is available as Julian Payton prefers to maintain a low profile, Gary Payton II often shares his brother’s pictures on social media expressing his love and pride.
