Gavin Joseph Dugas, better known as Gavin Dugas, is an American collegiate baseball player. Born to his parents, Gabe and Glenna Dugas, in Houma, Dugas dreamed of playing for the LSU Tigers from childhood.
As someone whose home lies very close to the Lousiana State, Gavin grew up watching LSU’s games in college tournaments. A diehard Tigers fan, he had already decided to play for them before he joined high school.
Fortunately, everything happened as per his plan. After graduating high school in 2018, he enrolled in the Louisiana State and played baseball as an infielder/ outfielder until 2022.
Dugas is a proper baseball player who can play any assigned position on the field except a catcher. However, he mostly played as a shortstop during his high school years.
His high school coach Joshua Constant remarked that the LSU Tigers got a great baseball player when Gavin committed to playing for them as a junior at Houma Christian. Thankfully, he lived up to his reputation.
During his four-year-long stay at LSU, Gavin won numerous accolades, including the SEC Academic Honor Roll, consecutively for three last seasons. Moreover, he became the NCAA Eugene Regional Most Valuable Player in 2021.
Gavin Dugas Parents: Gabe And Glenna Dugas
Gavin was born on May 19, 2000, to his parents, Gabe and Glenna, in Houma, Louisiana. Before him, his parents had his older brother, Blake.
Glenna and Gabe were great baseball fans, so they encouraged Blake and Gavin to engage in the game in their spare time. Raised in Houma, Gavin and his brother, Blake, frequently watched baseball games with their parents at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.
As a result, Gavin considered becoming a baseball player to make his parents proud at a very young age. Senior to him by many years, Gavin’s older brother did not have the same athletic ambition.
Unlike Gavin, Blake graduated from Terrebonne HS and did not play collegiate baseball.
Speaking more of his parents, Gavin’s mother, Glenna, was born and raised in Pennsylvania. After graduating high school in 1990, she moved to Louisiana for undergraduate education, where she met Gabe.
Glenna holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After graduation, she and Gabe married on November 26, 1994, and eventually settled in Houma, Louisiana.
Gavin In The 2022 MLB Draft And His Love Life
Like every college baseball player, Gavin ultimately wanted a professional career after graduating in 2022. Although he went for the 2022 MLB draft, no team took him in, and he went undrafted.
However, Gavin has no mindset to give up this soon.
Despite having a college degree in Sports Administration, he still wants to pursue a baseball career, so he has returned to LSU to play college baseball for the last time.
Aside from his professional career, Gavin is lucky that he has a great love life. According to his social media bio, he is currently in a relationship with Julia Poole.
Poole is from Belle Chasse, a town in Louisiana, and currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University.
