Gia Gentile, a remarkable high school cheerleader, tragically passed away at the young age of 14, leaving her parents and loved ones heartbroken.

According to the obituary, Gia Gentile, a 14-year-old cheerleader from Hawthorne, New York, passed away on March 9, 2025.

Gia had been fighting Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare type of pediatric cancer, for several years.

Moreover, after her years of battle with neuroblastoma, Gia took her last breath on Sunday, March 9, surrounded by her parents, siblings, and loved ones.

The teenager was a student at Hawthorne Elementary School and Westlake High School, where she showcased her exceptional athletic skills and was a member of the varsity cheerleading team.

Gia was known not only for her athletic skills but also for her brave and cheerful nature.

Her untimely death has left a profound void in the lives of her family and loved ones.

Gia Gentile Is Survived By Her Parents, Dana And Carmine, And Her Two Siblings!

The late Gia Gentile was born to father Carmine and mother Dana Gentile on June 9, 2010.

She was the heart of the Gentile family; her presence filled the room with joy, and she was cherished by everyone.

Gia was a great daughter to Carmine and Dana and an amazing sister to Jordana and Santino.

Moreover, the Gentile family found out about Gia’s rare cancer in November 2016 when she was six years old and a first-grader at Hawthorne Elementary School.

The diagnosis was made following two weeks of various symptoms, including complaints of pain and a persistent low-grade fever.

According to her father Carmine, Gia was initially experiencing fever and pain, which they believed to be a cheerleading-related muscular injury to her lower back, left leg, and right shoulder.

Similarly, many doctors concluded that she had a viral illness and muscular pain; the pain, however, increased to the point that Gia couldn’t walk and was hospitalized on October 26th, 2016.

Her mother, Dana Gentile, stated that the diagnosis was a total shock. Gia underwent treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.

She underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and for years, her parents and the entire community supported Gia’s treatment and helped her fight this battle.

Her parents organized several fundraisers, including Gia’s Glam Gala, and worked closely with the Band of Parents, a non-profit organization that helped children battling cancer.

Similarly, the Westchester community also raised funds from their charity work for the Gentile family during their difficult phase.

Regarding her parents, Gia’s father Carmine is a police lieutenant in the Town of Harrison, Hawthorne, New York, and her mother is a second-grade teacher at Pelham School District.

Her father, Carmine, has been a police officer for over 19 years and has been the Traffic Division Supervisor of the Town of Harrison Police Department since 2022.
