Glenwood High School baseball player Luke Peterson has tragically passed away.
Luke Peterson, an emerging young baseball prospect from Illinois, continued to gain attention for his development on the field.
A left-handed pitcher and first baseman from Glenwood High School, he brought versatility and athleticism to the game at an early stage in his career.
Standing at 5 feet and 6 inches and weighing 112 pounds, he competed in multiple showcase events, including May Madness and the PBT Youth World Series at Rantoul.
He played travel baseball with the TBSA Tribe 13u Program. As a class of 2031, he had years of growth and development ahead.

It has taken all day to find the right words to say for such a profound loss to our TBSA Tribe family. Our many prayers are with Luke Peterson’s family and friends. Luke quickly became a great teammate, competitor, and brother to his Tribe 13u team that they all loved. We are all heartbroken and will continue to play like Luke did—love for the game of baseball and love of his teammates.

Luke Christian Church announced that the church will be open on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM to pray for Luke and his family.
We are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Luke Peterson. Our hearts grieve alongside his family, friends, and the entire Chatham community during this incredibly difficult time. Please continue to lift them up in prayer. Lakeside Christian Church will be open on Tuesday, May 26, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM as a place for our community to come together for prayer, comfort, and togetherness.
