Born 10 Weeks Premature, World’s No. 1 Disabled Golfer Kipp Popert Underwent 11 Surgeries With Parents Richard And Lindsey’s Support

Kipp Popert, an elite English golfer who has become the world’s No. 1-ranked disabled golfer, is making his parents, Richard and Lindsey, proud with his rising golf career.

Kipp Popert recently broke his own record at the 2025 U.S. Adaptive Open, shooting an incredible 11-under 61 in the opening round at Woodmont Country Club.

The 27-year-old English golfer, born with spastic diplegia, now holds the second-lowest round ever recorded in a USGA championship.

Already a two-time defending champion, Popert’s dominant performance not only extended his lead in the event but also reaffirmed his status as the world’s No. 1-ranked disabled golfer.

By continuing to defy physical odds and excel on the course, Kipp is making his parents, Richard and Lindsey, immensely proud while inspiring millions around the world with his extraordinary talent.

Furthemore, Kipp Popert often expresses his love and appreciation for his parents, Richard and Lindsey, who have been his constant supporters through all his good and bad times.

Popert born 10 weeks prematurely on July, 6, 1998 was diagnosed with spastic diplegia as a child, a form of cerebral palsy affecting the lower extremities of the body.

He underwent painstaking physiotherapy through his formative years and underwent 11 surgeries in his teenage.

Throughout his treatment, his parents were very supportive; they not only helped Kipp Popert in his personal life but also instilled in him a love and passion for sports, guiding him on his athletic journey.

Popert’s father, Richard ‘Rick’, introduced him to golf after buying him a pair of light clubs and showing him videotapes of legendary American golfer Bobby Jones.

Richard also dropped off and picked up Popert at the local golf club, where Kipp practiced for up to 15 hours a day.

In an interview, Richard said:

“He just had that ability to keep going, even when he had those surgeries, Botox injections, and splinting, he never stopped. It was his belief. Nobody believes in Kipp more than himself.”

Similarly, Kipp often states that he is fortunate to have Richard and Lindsey as his parents, as they have told him that he can do whatever he wants in life since the day he was born.

Kipp Popert’s Parents, Richard and Lindsey, Are Both Doctors

Richard and Lindsey are not just amazing parents to Kipp Popert but also great doctors based in London, England.

Kipp’s father, Richard ‘Rick,’ is a renowned urologist and surgeon with over 40 years of experience.

After completing his higher surgical training at Guy’s Hospital in London and urological research at King’s College Hospital, Rick began his career as a consultant Urological Surgeon in 1996.

Furthermore, since 1997, Richard has been serving as the consultant urological surgeon of London Bridge Urology and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

His surgical expertise lies in Robotic radical Prostatectomy, Dynamic Prostate Brachytherapy, for which he has the UK’s largest experience of single visit dynamic intra-operative prostate brachytherapy and has carried out over 800 of these cases since 2004.

Like his father, Kipp’s mother, Lindsey Thompson Popert, is also excelling in her career as a urologist.

Born in September 1970, Dr. Lindsey Thompson Popert currently serves as the director of Popert Urology Services Ltd., a role she has held since March 9, 2010.

With over 15 years of continued service, Lindsey remains actively involved in the company.
