Grant Williams parents Teresa and Gilbert, have raised an NBA shooting star who is living his NBA dream with Boston Celtics.

Grant started his NBA career after the 2019 NBA Draft with Boston Celtics and was a 2019 SEC Player of the Year.

He made his professional debut in a loss to the 76ers on October 23, 2019, with players like Jaylen Brown.

On October 26, 2022, Grant got suspended for one game for making contact with a game official during a 102–120 loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Grant’s journey hasn’t been easy as it wavers with time and efficiency, but he is progressing with his parent’s support and his sharp skills.

Parents Of Grant Williams

Grant was born on November 30, 1998, to his parents, Teresa Johnson (mother) and Gilbert Williams (father).

His parents had different professions; his mother is an electrical engineer for NASA, while his father is a jazz artist.

His father, Gilbert, played basketball in his collegiate years and even worked as a bodyguard for the world’s best pop stars like Prince Rogers.

Sources also claim that Grant has said in his interviews that Gilbert has also served as a stage manager and teacher.

Gilbert’s parents have always supported him throughout his career and taught him basketball skills and life lessons.

Some sources also suggest that the NBA player’s parents are separated and living their respective lives.

Teresa and Gilbert have three children, the Boston Celtics player Grant Williams, Gabon Williams, and Gilbert Williams.

Grant is a middle child among the kids, as Gabon Williams is the oldest and Gilbert Williams is the youngest.

Mother As An Idealized Figure

Teresa Johnson, William’s mother, has an exceptional profession as an electrical engineer at NASA.

In addition, she helped to design the International Space Station in the 1980s.

Teresa was the only woman who majored in electrical engineering at North Carolina A&T State University.

It was evident for a woman to face hardship in a male-dominated field, but she still made it through.

She even shared an anecdote in her interview with NBC Sports Boston, where her father pursued her to go with the course and promised to support her.

After years all the struggles paid off, and she landed a job with NASA in design.

Teresa’s struggles positively influenced several family members, including his NBA shooting star son, Grant.
