GRCHS Athletic Trainer Shari Oole tragically passed away on Sunday.

Shari Oole was born in Dayton, Ohio, and relocated with her family to Portage during her fifth-grade year.

She graduated from Portage Northern High School and attended Alma College on a vocal music scholarship.

Later, she majored in exercise and health science.

She never played sports but started her athletic training career very young.

Before serving as a trainer at Grand Rapids Christian Eagles, Shari Oole trained at MHSAA Sports for over twenty years.

She worked at all levels of MHSAA state tournaments and was widely regarded as one of the best athletic trainers in Michigan.

Her expertise was recognized when the MHSAA Emergency Action Plan Committee chose her to help shape emergency policies for athletic events across the state.

In 2023, Shari was named the Michigan Athletic Trainer Society (MATS) HS Athletic Trainer of the Year.

As per the reports, GRCHS athletic trainer Shari Oole died on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 49. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.

Athletic Trainer at NovaCare Rehabilitation, Maddie Willerer, took to her official Facebook handle, shared Shari’s picture posted by Grand Rapids Christian Eagles, and wrote,

Gail Gold Willis took to her official Instagram handle and said her impact at GRC will never be forgotten. She wrote,

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Shari’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.

She will always be remembered for her unforgettable contribution to MHSAA and GRCHS. Her family will soon reveal the funeral service schedule.

Shari Oole Is Survived By Her Mother And One Brother

Shari was raised in Portgage by her mother, whose identity has not been revealed. Currently, she is mourning the tragic death of her daughter, Shari.

Oole is also survived by her brother, who has stayed away from the media spotlight.

Earlier, Shari’s mother shared how Shari got interested in being an athletic trainer.

When Shari’s brother played 7th-grade football, he got the wind knocked out of him in a game.

It seemed he had been down on the field too long, so Shari’s mother looked at her, not wanting to leave her alone in the stands. However, Shari wasn’t there.

Her mother looked at the field again, and Shari stood beside her brother, ensuring he was fine.

Shari grew up caring for her brother’s sports-related injuries and even worked with the athletic trainer in high school.
