Green Bay Packers’ Tight End Tucker Kraft Lost One Of His Parents Early But Carries The Legacy Through His Footballing Journey

When 24-year-old tight end for the Green Bay Packers, Tucker Kraft, lost his father when he was 12 years old, his mother played the dual role — as his father and mother.

Tucker Kraft, born on November 3, 2000, in Timber Lake, South Dakota, is a professional football tight end.

Currently, he plays for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League.

He played college football at South Dakota State University and was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Kraft grew up in Timber Lake, where he attended Timber Lake High School.

A versatile athlete, he played running back, middle linebacker, and punter on the football team.

Furthermore, as a senior, he had an outstanding season, rushing for 1,405 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns, earning first-team All-State honors.

He initially committed to South Dakota State over a late offer from Wyoming.

In college, Kraft redshirted during his true freshman season in 2019.

His playing time began during the 2021 spring season, which was postponed from the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That season, he recorded seven receptions for 90 yards.

In his redshirt sophomore year, Kraft became a key player, starting all 15 games and producing 65 receptions for 780 yards and six touchdowns.

Moreover, his impressive performance earned him consensus FCS All-American recognition and All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors, solidifying his status as one of the top tight ends in the FCS before entering the NFL.

After Tucker Kraft Lost His Father, His Mother Became The Cornerstone Of The Family

Tucker Kraft’s parents, Doug and Tausha Kraft, played significant roles in shaping his life and football career.

Doug Kraft, born in 1974, was a standout athlete himself, excelling in three sports at Timber Lake High School before attending Huron University.

There, he earned All-American honors as a wide receiver.

Tragically, Doug passed away in 2013 when Tucker was just 12 years old after a plane crash while working on a pesticide application.

This loss deeply affected the family but also brought them closer together.

On the other hand, Tausha Kraft, Tucker’s mother, became the cornerstone of the family following Doug’s death.

A dedicated and resilient mother, she supported Tucker and his two brothers, Cody and Tanner, through the challenging times.

In 2014, Tausha faced her own health struggles with an autoimmune disease, yet she remained a strong presence in Tucker’s life.

Talking about it, she said,

My lung functions stopped deteriorating… I’m back to being able to walk without oxygen and work again.

Her guidance and encouragement have been pivotal in his journey to the NFL.

Tausha later remarried Guthrie Ducheneaux in 2018, who formed a close bond with the family.

Guthrie Ducheneaux works at Missouri Breaks Industries Research Inc.
