The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Christian Watson has an estimated net worth of around $5 million. The young NFL player began his career in the league in 2022 and is now one of the most sought-after players.
Watson, 25, played for the North Dakota State Bison, with whom he won four FCS Championships.
In four years with North Dakota, Christian played 52 games, rushed 392 yards, received 2140 yards, and scored 16 touchdowns.
The Packers drafted him in the second round as the 34th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the seventh receiver selected in the draft.
Watson had a great start to his NFL career, playing 14 games in his first year, scoring seven touchdowns, and completing 611 receiving yards.
This raised expectations for the second year, but the injuries derailed his sophomore year.
But it looks like Watson is trying his best to capture his rookie-year form and has played considerably well during the last five games of the 2024 season.
He has averaged 29.8 yards per catch and put up 387 yards on 13 catches.
Watson and Romeo Doubs, the other wide receiver, put up stellar performances as the Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks.
These performances will help Watson negotiate a better contract next season. Meanwhile, he is in his rookie contract and will hit free agency in 2026.
Wide Receiver Christian Watson’s Net Worth Could Rise Significantly as He Nears the End of His Rookie Contract!
The second-round pick, Christian Watson, signed a four-year $9.2 million contract with the Packers in 2022.
The contract included a $3.9 million signing bonus, $6.7 million guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2.3 million.
In his rookie year, the wide receiver collected a salary of $705,000, followed by $1.125 million in his second year as an NFL player.
Watson’s total salary for 2024 was $1.5 million, which will likely increase to $1.96 million in 2025.
Given his performance and previous earnings, there’s no doubt that Christian’s second contract will be a big one, earning him a handsome fortune.
But the only question that lingers is whether it will be from the Packers or any other NFL team.
During the 2024 NFL pre-season, rumors had it that the GPackers wanted to trade Watson.
The trade rumors began after the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb wasn’t happy with the contract offered to him.
But in the end, the Cowboys kept their star player, signing him to a four-year $136 million contract.
Watson probably won’t get a hefty contract like the Cowboys’ wide receiver. Lamb has already made it to the Pro Bowl three times, and Watson has yet to appear.
Last year, Lamb also made it to the First-team All-Pro. Hence, it made sense for the Cowboys to tie Lamb to a hefty contract.
That said, the spark shown by Watson in the 2024 season might see him earn an easy eight-figure contract, followed by a massive jump in his salary.
Unlike Many Other NFL Players, Christian Watson Hasn’t Endorsed Multiple Brands Aside From Nike!
The injury in his sophomore year certainly hurt his chances of landing not only a big contract with the Packers but also brand deals.
Unlike many other NFL players, Watson has not been seen promoting any brand deals across his social media platforms, including his Instagram, aside from Nike.
Nowadays, sharing posts related to brands has become one of the common ways for celebrities and athletes alike to earn big bucks from coveted brands.
But unlike some other NFL stars, Watson is also not a show-off kinda guy, with most of his posts being strictly related to only football and his wife, Lakyn Adkins.
In recent years, Watson has also shown his charitable side.
In his My Cause My Cleats video, Watson shared his support of the American Breast Cancer Foundation and Light of Life Foundation for Thyroid Cancer.
When asked the reason behind his support for these two charities, Watson shared his compassion comes from personal struggles, i.e., his mom had battled with Thyroid Cancer.
A few of Watson’s family members also had to battle through Breast Cancer.
In his video, Watson also shared that people like him ought to use their platform to raise awareness about such causes.
In his rookie year, Watson, with the Packers organization, donated $26,500 worth of hygiene products to hygiene company Tork for their ‘Tackle Hygiene with Every Catch‘ campaign.
It is evident that the wide receiver loves to stay in touch with the charitable side. So, it won’t be shocking to see him get even more involved with charities as we see him earn a more significant contract.
