This was Monroe’s first appearance in an NBA game since 2019.

Here’s what Monroe feels about his new sign with the Timberwolves.

“It has been a whirlwind. I was just so focused on being ready when my number was called, I haven’t gotten a chance to digest it honestly, but in this league, you don’t have much time to digest anything.”

Talking with ESPN, he further added his experience with the new teammates.

“The game is the same; the people change. Tonight, it’s a young guy taking advantage of an opportunity.”

In 2008, Monroe was listed as the number 1 power forward. And also the number 8 player in the United States. By 2008, Monroe was already a five-star recruit.

He further honed his basketball skills in his sophomore year at Georgetown University, further earning him several awards and accolades.

Monroe was named the Big East All-Tournament team, NABC Division I All-District five first team, AP NCAA All-America third team, and NABC Division I All-America third team.

His improved performances meant that he was also named to the All-Big East first team and the USBWA All-District II team.

The Detroit Pistons then drafted Monroe in the 2010 NBA draft.
