Early Life And Education
Hamidou was born on July 31, 1998, in Queens, New York, United States. His parents, Abdoulaye Diallo (father) and Marima Dillao (mother) moved to America for a better future for their kids from Guinea.
He had an average childhood with his three siblings, Alpha, Boubacar, and Marima. Raising three kids was difficult for Dillao’s parents, but they did their best to give them the best life.
From early childhood, Diallo was kind; he helped people in need and fought for the rights of others.
Besides, the best part of his childhood was his siblings, who played board games, cards, pool, and ping to keep themselves entertained.
Diallo started playing basketball in their high school days, and his parents never stopped him from persuading his dreams. He went to John Bowne High School for his primary education.
Then, later he was transferred to Putnam Science Academy, where he completed the rest of his high school. However, he also played basketball and made a remarkable position for himself.
After graduating from high school, Diallo was admitted to the University of Kentucky but couldn’t complete his education as he got a chance to be in the NBA. So from here, Hamidou Diallo’s professional career started.
Career
As we already know, Hamidou loved playing basketball from an early age. During his high school days in John Bowne, he averaged 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
However, he couldn’t be there long after being transferred to Putnam Science Academy. There he showed his skills and charmed everyone with his exceptional performance.
The 6’5″ (1.96 m) tall player completed his high school career with an average of 19.0 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Nonetheless, Diallo was even considered the top player in the 2017 class.
After his high school success, six universities wanted Diallo to play for them in their universities. But Hamidou chose to be with the University of Kentucky to complete further studies and focus on his career.
In 2017, Hamidou was admitted to Kentucky and instantly started his practice sessions. But he couldn’t play a single game from there because Diallo was named for the NBA 2018 Draft.
Being in the NBA and making it to the list of the NBA is a prestigious thing.

NBA Career
Brooklyn Nets drafted Hamidou and later traded him to Charlotte Hornets and Oklahoma State Thunder. So, Oklahoma is considered the first team from which he made his debut.
His first match was with Golden State Warriors (100–108), but unfortunately, his team lost by four points.
But Diallo didn’t let his failure degrade his hope, and he came stronger in his second match. He scored his career-high 18 points in that match with all the dedication on November 19, 2018.
Diallo even became the first-ever Oklahoma player to win NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He was with Thunders for two years, and later COVID happened.
Like any other person, he stayed home for a long time. But he didn’t let this time go spare; he practiced and tried to enhance his basketball techniques at home.
And finally, after everything was normal and the NBA reopened in 2021, Dillao returned, but this time with a new team, Detroit Pistons, with players like Kelly Olynyk.
Unfortunately, on March 9, 2022, Duallo suffered an avulsion fracture in his left index finger in a loss to the Chicago Bulls.
Due to this, on March 25, 2022, Diallo was ruled out for the remainder of the 2021–22 season.
Even the 2022- 2023 season wasn’t turned well due to his right ankle injury on March 6, 2023, during a 110–104 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
