Isadora “Izzy” Catania, a freshman from Hamilton, NY, passed away untimely in May 2025, leaving her family and softball community heartbroken.
A beloved resident of Hamilton, New York, she played varsity softball as a pitcher, wearing jersey #18, in the class of 2028.
Izzy grew up in a family deeply connected to the sport of softball. Her sisters, Adriana and Sicily, were also deeply involved in Hamilton’s softball program.
She played alongside her sisters, Adriana and Sicily, and made significant contributions to the team’s success.
Adriana, a senior catcher, played a crucial role in the team’s success, demonstrating strong leadership and skill behind the plate.
On the other hand, Sicily, an outfielder and catcher, contributed with her versatility and dedication, making the Catania trio a key part of Hamilton’s softball legacy.
Their bond extended beyond the field, as they supported each other through every game and challenge.
Isadora Catania Was A Standout Softball Player!
Izzy was a key player on the Hamilton Emerald Knights softball team, known for her skill, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Whether striking out batters or uplifting her teammates, she played the game with heart and unwavering passion.
In a close game against McGraw, she hit a crucial two-out RBI single to start the scoring.
Later, she added a triple during a big 10-run inning that secured the win.
Her performance was praised in The Emerald Press, which highlighted her leadership in the team’s strong 6-0 record.
Over her softball career, Isadora “Izzy” Catania demonstrated impressive skills at the plate, amassing 62 at-bats, 16 runs, and 22 hits while driving in 16 RBIs.
She consistently delivered strong performances, recording 15 singles, 3 doubles, and 4 triples throughout her time on the field.
Her ability to get on base was reflected in 4 walks and 2 hit-by-pitches, while her speed on the bases led to 4 stolen bases.
With a .355 batting average and .532 slugging percentage, Izzy established herself as a reliable and impactful player, contributing significantly to her team’s success.
Beyond athletics, Izzy was an outstanding student, excelling academically with a bright future ahead.
Her teachers and peers admired her determination, intelligence, and kindness, noting her ability to bring insight and empathy to every interaction.

Her sudden passing has left her parents, friends, and teammates in deep mourning.
