He served as the head boys’ soccer coach at Harlingen High School in Harlingen, Texas, until his arrest on May 12, 2025.

Recently, Allen was arrested on May 12 after a report was filed on May 11. He was charged with allegations of selling, distributing, or displaying harmful material to a minor.
The Harlingen Police Department took him into custody after a report was filed against him.
He was given a $7,500 bond. However, it’s unclear whether he has posted bail and been released.
Harlingen High School released a statement regarding Joseph Allen Johnson’s arrest, confirming that he is no longer employed with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District.

The school emphasized its commitment to prioritizing the safety of its community and thanked the Harlingen Police Department for its swift action. They said:
We prioritize the safety of our HCISD school community and thank the Harlingen Police Department for their partnership. Through our partnership, we were able to take swift action to address concerns regarding the former employee. The situation had been reported to the appropriate authorities including but not limited to the Texas Education Agency.
