It was a Friday night when she was last seen on the paddle board, and her demise occurred mere hours later.

Despite her vibrant health, Smart’s mother revealed that she had never experienced any significant illnesses besides minor knee swelling due to her rigorous swimming routine.

The sudden and unexpected nature of her passing has left her family in profound distress.

Though the exact cause remains unknown, authorities suspect that the tragedy unfolded shortly after Smart had retired to bed, with her passing occurring during her sleep.

On the day leading up to the tragic incident, Helen had begun her day with a morning swim at a local country club close to her residence in Wigan.

Following this routine, she and her family embarked on a journey to Cumbria to celebrate her brother Robert’s 40th birthday.
