Former High Plains High School Basketball Coach Jonathon T. Scheerer-Hamm Arrested For Alleged Inappropriate Relationship With Student

Jonathon T. Scheerer-Hamm, a former paraeducator and head basketball coach of High Plains High School’s men’s basketball team, has been arrested.

According to reports, Police arrested the Nebraska native Jonathon T. Scheerer-Hamm, 28, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.

Authorities stated that Jonathon allegedly engaged in sexually explicit communication with a student using social media and his cellphone.

Likewise, according to Police reports, Scheerer-Hamm and the student exchanged numerous sexually explicit photos and videos.

Jonathon’s phone was seized during the investigation, and the investigators found multiple inappropriate graphic images.

According to the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office, Jonathon Scheerer-Hamm, arrested on Tuesday, has been charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and is currently held at the Merrick County Jail.

Similarly, Jonathon has been fired from his position as the head basketball coach of High Plains High School’s varsity Boys Basketball team.

Jonathon Scheerer-Hamm Is A Former High School Track And Basketball Standout

Prior to showcasing his exceptional coaching skills as the head boys and girls basketball coach at several high schools in Nebraska, Jonathan Scheerer-Hamm won the hearts of many with his impressive high school and college sports career.

Furthermore, Jonathon ‘JT’ Hamm played for the McCool Junction High School men’s track and field team, leading his team to several victories and earning several honorable titles.

Hamm competed in long-distance events. Notably, in 2014, he recorded a hand-timed 11:35.9 in the 3200 meters, showing his dedication.

In addition to track and field, Hamm also showcased his amazing basketball skills playing for McCool Junction’s men’s basketball team, the Mustangs.

Wearing jersey #33, Jonathon played point guard in his senior year in 2015.

Known for his leadership and competitive drive, Hamm earned five “Player of the Game” awards during his high school career.

While very little information about his college sports career is available, Jonathon, also known as JT Hamm, led several high schools to victories as a basketball coach.

Prior to High Plains High School, Jonathon served as the men’s basketball coach of York High School in Nebraska.

Like him, his brother, Allan James Scheerer-Hamm, also known as AJ Hamm, served as the basketball coach of several high schools.

Allan also played basketball for York University’s men’s basketball team, the Panthers, and currently serves as the cashier of Orscheln Farm and Home LLC.
