The brother of Ian Happ, Chris Happ, is a former baseball player himself. While Ian is enjoying a successful baseball career, Chris is venturing into the business world.

Ian Edward Happ is a professional American baseball outfielder for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB).

The 31 years old played collegiate baseball with the Cincinnati Bearcats baseball team.

The Pittsburgh native can bat with both his hands based on the pitcher.

Going in the 2015 MLB draft as one of the top prospects, the Chicago Cubs selected Happ in round one with the ninth overall selection.

Beginning the 2017 season with the Iowa Cubs of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, Happ was promoted to the major leagues on May 13, 2017. He hit a 413-foot home run for his first career MLB hit the same day.

Happ finished his 2022 season with a career-high 158 games played and won a Gold Glove Award in left field while making his way to his first All-Star game.

Ian Happ’s elder younger brother Chris Happ was born in 1988. The Duquesne University graduate was a former baseball player who played for Duquesne Dukes from 2006-2010.

The Chicago outfielder’s brother joined Capital Creek after serving as a founding partner at One Day Capital LLC.

He is also a personal financial and business counselor to many MLB and NFL players operating from Chicago.

Both the Happ brothers attended Mount Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, where they played baseball as youngsters.

Chris was playing in high school when his younger brother, Ian, was first introduced to Pat McCloskey. 

Chris was a promising player for the collegiate baseball team, with bats per homerun of 134. He has a bachelor of science in business administration from Duquesne.

The former athlete earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He finished his MBA in 2012 and worked as a currency trader at Gelber Group LLC.

Age Gap And Family Tree

Ian and Chris have an age gap of six years. The Happ brothers are quite close despite having gone separate ways in their professions.

Ian Happ’s family tree can be traced back to his father, Keith Happ, and his mother, Dr. Mary Beth Happ.

Keith Happ was a USGA agronomist and a golf player, while Dr. Happ is an associate dean of research and innovation at the Ohio State University’s College of Nursing.

Keith Happ, who died of brain cancer in 2015, assisted and advised courses on their grass in the Midwest region as an agronomist.

Mary is very supportive of Ian’s baseball career. She does her best to make sure work does not get in the way of attending his baseball tournaments.

Ian is currently engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Julie Mazur. The couple got engaged in May 2022.

Happ had kept his relationship under wraps until he announced the engagement on Instagram, along with photos from the proposal.

Julie Nicole Mazur was born in Illinois on May 20, 1995. She attended Illinois State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2017.

Mazur actively engages in volunteer activities, having previously volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Greater Chicago Food Depository. She is currently collaborating with DHR International.
