In Groesbeck, TX: 15-Year-Old Reports Being Threatened, Urged to Kill Herself, and Racially Attacked by HS Football Players

Say no to bullying and racial discrimination

This article was last updated by on

In Groesbeck, Texas, a disturbing incident unfolded when a group of varsity football players harassed, threatened, and racially attacked 15-year-old Essense Henderson.

She was told to kill herself, subjected to degrading slurs, and targeted with vile racism, while multiple boys either participated or stood by without intervening.

Despite the severity of the abuse, only one player has been held accountable, even though the harassment took place in a group chat involving several participants.

The consequences have been devastating: Essense has been unable to return to school due to the absence of a safety plan.

Moreover, her guardians remain uninformed about the investigation process, disciplinary actions, or any measures to protect her.

An Urgent Call For The Accountability, Transparency, and Action To Protect Essence Henderson!

Rosalina Finch took to Facebook to highlight the ongoing injustice, posting a detailed account of the harassment and the lack of accountability.

She highlighted that the issue is far from resolved, questioning why players left the group chat once things escalated.

Furthermore, she questioned why adults created fake Facebook accounts to discredit a child defending herself, and why the victim still has no assurance of safety.

Finch’s post focuses on the systemic failure of adults and institutions to protect Essense. She concludes her post with a powerful reminder, saying:

The moment this begins to fade, I will bring it right back. Every. Single. Time.

If you’re tired of reading about it, imagine being a 15-year-old girl who had to live it while the adults around her looked away.

Imagine STILL having to live it while nobody gives a damn.

And to those already slipping back into the same behavior that allows & enables these kids — don’t worry. You’re only proving exactly why this issue can’t be ignored any longer. It starts at home.

People reacted strongly to Finch’s post, sharing their views and criticizing the players’ actions and those who stood by.

One commenter expressed outrage, saying,

I can say is shame on them and their parents need to snatch them up!!! And for those that stood by and didn’t do anything shame on them as well.!! Absolutely disgusting!

Racism and bullying are violations of basic human dignity and must never be tolerated.

As Rosalina raises her voice against it, she demands protection for Essense Henderson, refusing to let the issue fade into silence.
