Alex Tanney, NFL coach and former quarterback, has been happily married to his wife, Rebecca Tanney, since 2014.
Tanney, born on November 11, 1987, in Lexington, Illinois, began his athletic career as a standout three-sport athlete at Lexington High School.
He became the school’s all-time leading point scorer and was a two-time Illinois All-State quarterback.
He then went on to shine at Monmouth College, finishing his collegiate career with 157 touchdown passes and the second-most passing yards in NCAA D-III history, with 14,249 yards.
After going undrafted in 2012, Tanney signed with the Kansas City Chiefs but struggled with injuries early in his professional career.
He later played for several NFL teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans (first stint), Buffalo Bills, and Indianapolis Colts.
During his second stint with the Tennessee Titans, he had a notable career highlight in 2016 when he threw his first and only NFL touchdown pass.
In 2018, Tanney joined the New York Giants as the backup quarterback to Eli Manning and announced his retirement on February 9, 2021, after a brief but impactful playing career.
After retiring, he shifted to coaching, taking an offensive quality control role with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Over the next two years, he was promoted within the Eagles’ coaching staff, first to assistant quarterbacks coach and then to quarterbacks coach in 2023.
In February 2024, Tanney took the next step in his career when the Indianapolis Colts hired him as their offensive passing game coordinator.

The couple also hosted the 2nd Annual TackleMS Charity Event in June 2019 and donated $50,000 to MS research programs.
