In March 2023, Henry scored against arch-rivals Chivas and celebrated controversially.

After initially celebrating with teammates, he crouched in front of the goal Chivas was defending and mimicked a dog urinating on the goal line.

This act didn’t go down well with the opposing fans, and the referee warned him with a yellow card. Former players and the media slammed Martin for his celebration.

Ex-Mexican player Jared Borgetti reprimanded him, saying he should set a better example for young kids.

Additionally, ESPN reported David Feitelson hit out at Henry, saying his celebration was an embarrassment and he should know better as one of the leaders in the Club America team.

Commencing the fallout, Henry apologized on social media, stating he intended to celebrate like his idol Cuauhtémoc Blanco in 1999 and not to ridicule or offend anyone.
