The University of Pittsburgh Indiana University Bloomington alumnus manifested his entrepreneurial journey from an early age, selling garbage bags to running newspapers.

He worked as a bartender and salesperson before co-founding MicroSolutions, which made him $2 million after taxes upon selling it to CompuServe.

Another unicorn company Broadcast.com, which Cuban started with Todd Wager, was acquired by Yahoo! for $5.7 billion.

Consequently, he started investing in startups and deals as a “shark” investor on the ABC reality program Shark Tank.

Moreover, one of his biggest investments was purchased in 2000, a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks for $285 million.

However, Mark had lost his mother Shirley Cuban to lung cancer. Shirley Cuban was battling with the cancer for a very long time until her demise at 84.

She took her last breath in the suburban Pittsburgh home where she, along with her husband, raised her sons Mark, Brian, and Jeff.

Mark’s mother was born Shirley Rita Feldman in 1937, as the daughter of Jewish immigrants.

She graduated from Carlow College (now Carlow University in Pittsburgh) and worked as a massage therapist and at an addiction rehabilitation center.

In the recent episode 135 of Showtime Basketball’s All the Smoke, Muggsy Bogues shares his experience during his professional career.

Bogues went candid and explained the reason behind his retirement. It was mainly due to his mother, who was battling cancer at that time.

The shortest NBA player was just traded to the Dallas Mavericks but was waived after just two months.

Bogues, who still had three years in contract, expressed his gratitude towards Mark Cuban who guaranteed his contract.

Mark Cuban To Sell Majority Mavericks Stake 

Mark Cuban, the longtime majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is making a surprising exit from his ownership role.

In a stunning turn of events, Cuban has reached an agreement to sell a majority stake in the NBA franchise to Miriam Adelson.

The deal is reported to be valued at approximately $3.5 billion, as per sources.

Despite relinquishing the majority ownership, Cuban will still retain a minority stake in the team and will continue to oversee basketball operations.
