Mitchell Ross Marsh is the son of Geoff Marsh, a former cricketer, coach, and selector, and his wife, Michelle Marsh.

Rod’s son, Daniel, is a former Australian cricketer who captained the Tasmanian Tigers in the 2000s during the absence of Ricky Ponting (considered one of the best captains).

His other son, Paul, is the CEO of the AFL Players Association (2014- present).
