Jackie Carver of the Broadview Community in Winchester, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to Jack and Doris Carver, Jackie spent most of his youth in Manchester, TN, where he was baptized into the Church of Christ as a teenager.

From a young age, Jackie embraced life outdoors, enjoying fishing, floating the creek near his home, camping, and playing baseball and football with his friends.

Jackie excelled in sports throughout his school years, playing football and baseball at Coffee County High School, where he graduated in 1965.

He earned a baseball scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University and played for the Blue Raiders from 1965 to 1969.

Jackie helped lead MTSU to its first NCAA Championship in 1968 and was honored as the team’s MVP in 1969.

Following graduation, Jackie dedicated 52 years to teaching, coaching, and mentoring students in Coffee, Lincoln, and Franklin County Schools.

He spent the last 36 years at West Middle School in Tullahoma, where he taught physical education and science and coached basketball and track.

Students remember Jackie not only for his guidance but also for his infectious sense of humor, his “jokes of the day,” and the playful antics he shared with colleagues and students alike.

The West Middle “Sharks” Swim Team remains a testament to his fun-loving spirit and his knack for creating memorable school moments.

Jackie’s cheerful outlook and warm personality extended beyond the classroom.

He shared his life fully with his wife of 49 years, Susan, and their two sons, Jon and Craig.

Fatherhood came naturally to Jackie, who bonded with his sons through fishing, hunting, sports, and hands-on projects—sometimes resulting in minor injuries and a well-stocked first aid drawer.

Friends and family remember Jackie as a faithful companion who listened without judgment and offered love freely.

Dewon Brazelton, a former student, reflected on Jackie’s influence, saying,

“Coach Carver was a big presence in helping me change my ways. I will forever miss him… he paddled my behind on more occasions than I care to remember.”

Jackie’s life was filled with love, laughter, and countless stories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jackie Carver was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carver; his mother, Doris Carver; and his grandparents, Zenith and Ova Carver.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his sons, Jon and Craig; his sister, Cheryl Wiley and her husband, Don Wiley; and a multitude of friends and family who will forever cherish his memory.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home, with burial at Franklin Memorial Gardens.

Jackie Carver’s death leaves a profound void in the Winchester community, but his legacy of kindness, humor, and mentorship will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
