Jackson Koivun, a rising star in collegiate golf, was born on May 23, 2005, in San Jose, California, to supporting parents, Meghan and George Koivun.

Jackson Koivun’s amazing journey to becoming one of the most promising young golfers today is largely attributed to the support, dedication, and love of his parents, who have always believed in his dreams.

George Koivun, a native of the Quad Cities and a 1982 graduate of Moline High School, introduced Jackson to golf at a young age.

Their backyard putting sessions quickly turned into a lifelong passion for Jackson.

By the time he was seven, he had already beaten his dad on the course, a moment George likely recalls with pride and a chuckle.

Those early days on the fairways laid the foundation for Jackson’s work ethic and love for the game.

George’s role as Jackson’s first coach was key, teaching him not just the mechanics of a swing but the grit and determination needed to succeed.

Whereas Mother, Meghan Koivun, a Santa Clara University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Arts Administration, and Business, brought her own strengths to Jackson’s journey.

Her diverse career includes several roles like General Manager at Talbots, HR Specialist at Fireclick, and Research Associate at Sonos, which show her adaptability and resourcefulness.

These qualities translated into her parenting, as she ensured Jackson had everything he needed to chase his dreams.

From coordinating travel to cheering him on at tournaments, Meghan has been a regular presence, balancing her professional life with her role as Jackson’s biggest fan.

Jackson’s Parents have been his Rock, especially During his Standout Moments.

When he signed with the Auburn Tigers men’s golf team in 2022, Jackson took to Instagram to express his gratitude:

This sincere post caught the deep bond he shares with Meghan and George, who have been by his side through every milestone.

Their pride was on full display during Jackson’s PGA Tour debut in 2024. Both Meghan and George were there, cheering him on as he competed among golf’s elite.

In an emotional interview, Meghan shared the whirlwind of excitement surrounding Jackson’s achievements, including his Jack Nicklaus Award and a sponsor’s exemption to the tournament.

She said.

“It’s been a whirlwind, We found out about him getting the award and then this exemption Wednesday after the final of the NCAAs, which Auburn won. We’re running on adrenaline, but it’s been very special.”

His comments highlight the family’s shared commitment to Jackson’s journey, from local courses to the national stage.

Meghan, with tears of joy in her eyes, added,

“It’s his dream come true, and we’ve always believed he could be in a place like this. We’ve given him everything we can to make sure he has what he needs, and it means the world to us. He loves the game, and we’re thrilled he’s taken what we’ve given him and gone with it.”

She spoke of the joy of watching Jackson live his passion, surrounded by supportive friends, family, and teammates.

Jackson’s success is undeniable.

After his freshman season at Auburn University, he was ranked third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, trailing only Gordon Sargent and Christo Lamprecht.

At his PGA Tour debut, he cut and earned 15 points in the PGA Tour University Accelerated Program—just five points shy of the 20 needed for a PGA Tour card.

His trajectory suggests a bright future, with his parents cheering him on every step of the way.

Meghan and George Koivun aren’t just spectators in Jackson’s story, but they’re also the backbone of his success.

Their sacrifices, encouragement, and belief in his potential have fueled his rise in the golfing world.
