The community is mourning the loss of Jake Owen, who passed away on October 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

His family confirmed the heartbreaking news through a GoFundMe post organized by his cousin, Stephanie Garcia.

Jake’s life was marked by extraordinary strength and perseverance.

He was first diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) in 2010 when he was only 15 years old.

Thanks to a daily chemotherapy pill, he managed the disease for over a decade and lived a full, active life.

Jake worked on a natural gas pipeline and was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and kind spirit.

However, earlier this year, Jake’s health took a devastating turn.

After being hospitalized at Medical City Dallas on September 10, 2025, doctors discovered that his condition had progressed into a rare and aggressive combination of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Despite undergoing intensive treatment and preparing for a bone marrow transplant, Jake’s condition continued to worsen.

Stephanie Garcia, who set up the GoFundMe campaign, shared updates about Jake’s journey and the immense challenges faced by Jake and his mother, Kari Hibdon.

The family relied on the generosity of friends, relatives, and supporters to manage mounting medical expenses, travel costs, and daily needs while focusing on Jake’s recovery.

Tragically, Jake’s fight came to an end on the morning of October 22, 2025.

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Jake passed away this morning after a courageous battle with leukemia,” Stephanie wrote.

“While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace — and reunited in heaven with his beloved dad, Perry, who he missed dearly.”

The family expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and donations from the community.

They also asked for continued support and prayers for Kari and Jake’s brother, Josh, as they navigate this painful loss.

Jake’s story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering hope in the face of unimaginable hardship.

His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and through the legacy of strength and compassion he leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements will be shared soon as the family prepares to honor Jake’s life and the brave fight he fought until the very end.
