Although he was a four-time letter-winner in basketball and a three-year letter-winner in track and field, his high school football coach, Mike Hughes, suggested he focus on football.

His high school football career was a huge success. Aside from becoming a two-time first-team all-state defensive end, he was named a High School All-American by various reputed sports magazines, such as EA Sports and Parade.

Jackson later played college football for the Texas Longhorns. However, he went undrafted in the 2014 NFL draft after college. He tried making a career in the NFL until 2017, joining different teams, including Seattle, Cleveland, and Washington, but to no avail.

After graduating, Jaren later attended Norwich University, where he played basketball for the Cadets and pursued a Communications and Media Studies degree. He graduated college in 2011.

He works as a personal lines underwriter at Vermont Mutual Insurance Group in Montpelier as of this writing.
