Joseph Patrick Mauer, better known as Joe Mauer, is a former American professional baseball player who played for the Minnesota Twins jersey in the MLB for around 15 years.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Joe attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School, where he showed his potential in both football and baseball.

In his senior year, he became the USA Today High School Player of the Year in two sports, becoming the only athlete to achieve the feat.

Although he initially committed to play football for Florida State University, Mauer eventually chose to enter the MLB draft after school. Consequently, the Twins chose him as the first overall pick in the 2001 draft.
