The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebacker, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, grew up in Washington, United States.

Attending Hazen High School, he played football, basketball, and baseball. The Seattle Times named him regional defensive lineman of the year in his senior year.

A 3-star rated recruit from ESPN, he joined the University of Washington’s football program.

His big break came in 2021 after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Parents

Joe and his sister Julia were raised by their single mom, Andrea Tryon, in Washington, United States.

Andrea’s story is one of bravery, hard work, and grit as she struggled to the maximum when raising her two children.

Joe’s father abandoned his family when he was just 1 year old. However, Andrea filled the void for her two children’s lack of father figure.

She taught Joe to become responsible and supported him in his football journey.

Going from paycheck to paycheck, she fought hard for her family’s survival. Additionally, she never let it be a burden for the kids who were pursuing sports.

“She made it look easy, but I know it was anything but easy. I never missed any meals or anything like that. She made sure all the essentials were there. We had a tight-knit family. It was an awesome experience because, being a single mom, that is not easy.”

Keeping both children busy in sports, Joe in football and Julia in basketball, she recognized the importance of athletics in a child’s upbringing.

Her Volunteer and Community Efforts

Along with being an inspirational single mother to her kids, Andrea contributes significantly to the community.

Notably, she volunteers in child care and emphasizes scholarship programs for them.

“It’s very hard. You never know what you’re going to be able to give your kids, because the paycheck gets stretched very thin.”

Whether raising money for the Boys & Girls Club or as an officer for the youth football league, Andrea is ever present in philanthropic efforts.

She also encourages other parents to raise their kids the right way. Signifying the importance of proper parenthood, she advises young parents to pay more attention to their kids.

“The biggest advice I always tell parents is to be present when you are there. So many parents are so distracted with the drama in their own lives, that they tend to not pay attention to their children as much as they need.”

Joe has undoubtedly inherited Andrea’s philanthropic spirit. He collaborates with One More Child, a non-profit organization supporting single mothers, foster children, and more.

In an inspirational moment, Joe revealed he wants to be a role model to the young kids and put a smile on their faces.

All in all, he comes from a close-knit family with an exemplary mother figure who has given a significant portion of her life to the betterment of her family and community.
