Johnny Bonta, a renowned ice hockey player and a beloved figure in the CSHL community, passed away at the untimely age of 29.
According to reports, Johnny Bonta passed away at his home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
Furthermore, a long-time supporter and skater with CSHL, Johnny was most recently playing with the Toledo Mobsters of the APHL.
Johnny, a native of Ohio, began his journey in the sport at a very young age, and it didn’t take long before he became a renowned figure in both local and regional hockey leagues.
Before Toledo Mobsters, Johnny played with some popular hockey teams, including the Blue Ridge Bobcats, Watertown Wolves, Helena Bighorns, and many more.
Moreover, CSHL, on their official social media account, announced the tragic demise of their beloved player, Johny Bonta.
CSHL also stated that they will keep everyone updated once Johnny’s family completes funeral arrangements and services are announced.
They also requested people to join the CSHL community this Saturday at 11 am at Kyle Wheeler Memorial Rink to celebrate Johnny’s life doing what he loved most, i.e., Hockey.
In response to their post, many of Johnny’s fans and followers are sending their heartfelt prayers to his family.
Similarly, his former hockey team, Blue Ridge Bobcats Pro Hockey, took to Facebook to express their heartfelt condolences to his family, stating that Johnny was a favorite amongst fans for his game and his kind nature.
They also announced that they would play the upcoming game as a tribute to Johnny Bonta.
Likewise, Johnny’s current team, Toledo Mobsters Hockey Club, stated,
“Johnny was not only a valued, talented, player on our team, he was a friend, and family to our team and the organization.”

Johnny Bonta Also Excelled As A Sales Professional
Johnny Bonta was not just thriving in his hockey career but also excelling in his career as a sales professional.
Moreover, he began his sales career with Unique Lawn Care, located in West Chester, Ohio, United States, as a telemarketing sales representative in 2013.
Although he took a career break from his sales journey to focus on his hockey career from 2013 to 2018, serving as a junior hockey player with Helena Montana, he returned in 2018.
After five years of break from their sales career, Johnny reappeared as a retail sales manager at Ross Dress for Less located in Bozeman, Montana, United States, and served his position for around eight months.
He further became the Sales Professional of Ressler Motors in May 2019 and served in his position for over two years.
However, Johnny again took a break from his sales career and focused on his professional hockey career after signing a contract with Federal Prospect Hockey League Inc. in August 2021.
For the past few years before his demise, Johnny Bonta was focusing on both his hockey and sales career.
He was a logistics coordinator at Total Quality Logistics while serving as a professional hockey player at Toledo Mobsters.
