Johnny Holland wife, Faith Holland, has been the coach’s biggest supporter in his cancer battle. The football couple tied the knot in 1989 and have two kids.
One of their kids, Jordan Holland, followed in his father’s footsteps and tried out for the 49ers. Johnny, a former NFL player of the Packers, was inducted into the Packer’s Hall of Fame in 2001.
The 49ers’ linebackers coach has been battling cancer since 2019. He has been dealing with an aggressive form of multiple myeloma- a blood cancer that develops in plasma cells.
Earlier this year, Holland revealed that for the last two years, he has been participating in a groundbreaking clinical study at UCSF Health. In his recent interview, the veteran coach opened up about his battle with the deadly disease and how he hasn’t questioned his faith.
Holland’s team will face Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs on Sunday in the grand Super Bowl Stage. And The 49ers wouldn’t want to repeat what happened in 2020.
Johnny Holland Wife, Faith, And Kids
Johnny Holland and his wife Faith Holland have been married for 34 years. The football couple has always been talked about in the media in a positive light, with many complimenting their joyful personalities.
Previously, in 2021, the 49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan, told reporters that Johnny and Faith are some of the most genuine people he has ever met and that they are exceptional.
Shanahan was asked about his coach after Johnny stepped away from the team to battle the return of a cancer diagnosis. Faith and Johnny have gone through all the highs and lows of their lives together.
From cheering him on the sidelines when he was a player to starting a family with him and being beside him when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, Faith has been with her man in every step of his life.
In their latest interview, Faith said when Johnny hadn’t even been diagnosed with cancer, he would always feel reluctant to visit the physician’s office at Levi’s Stadium.
But after the pain intensified, Johnny visited the doctor’s office, and then they found out that the football coach was suffering from cancer.
Faith isn’t available on social media and likes to stay away from the public limelight. But she can be seen on her daughter’s Instagram handle.
Johnny And Faith Share Two Kids
The football couple Johnny and Faith are parents to two kids-Joli and Jordan Holland. Previously, Jordan tried to follow in his dad’s footsteps and was even signed by the 49ers.
A Prairie View A&M University graduate, Jordan Holland, signed with the 49ers in 2019 but was soon waived. There have been interviews where Jordan had said how badly he wanted to be like his dad.
At 5’9, 195-pound, the cornerback was never able to do so. Jordan said his father always motivated him and told him, “Listen, I love you regardless of whether football works out or not.”
In 2016, when his dad was coaching the Browns, Jordan worked in the equipment room. He even said to make money, he played for $25 game checks in Billings and slept in his car.
Jordan was also previously interviewed by Nothing But Niners and talked about his life story. Nowadays, Jordan has been away from the public limelight, and not much is known about him.
Johnny’s daughter, Joli Holland, is a University of South Florida graduate and was part of their volleyball team. After graduating from USF, Joli worked as a lead teller at Wells Fargo.
In 2020, she joined the US Bank as a loan specialist but only worked there for three months. In 2021, she received her master’s degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences with an occupational therapy degree.
She is available on Instagram and recently announced her partnership with DM Clinical Research.
Johnny Holland Cancer Battle
The 49ers coach, Johnny Holland, was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 during the 49ers’ Super Bowl run. He kept the situation private and only opened up later on.
He was initially diagnosed with multiple myeloma. In 2021, he released another statement stating that the cancer had returned and that he would be stepping away from the team.
He wrote, “It has been an emotional few years for me and my family. In September 2019, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and have gone through several rounds of remission and relapse.
Unfortunately, the cancer has returned, and beginning on September 6th, I will take some time away from the team to receive treatment. His team wore red T-shirts to honor Holland’s upcoming battle.
On the shirt’s back are the initials “I.G.Y.B.,” meaning I Got Your Back. He began his second round of treatment at Stanford Medical Center and the University of California-San Francisco.
But the cancer couldn’t keep him far away from the football field for too long. In 2022, Holland returned with the 49ers, and recently, the football coach opened up about his cancer battle in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Holland said he follows his dad’s motto about life and said, “My dad, he thought every day was a good day, and you have an opportunity. I kind of live life by that. You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow.”
The football coach also revealed his treatments had been reduced recently and that his new treatment had been working for about two years.
Johnny Holland Net Worth
The former football player, Johnny Holland, is believed to have a net worth of $5 million. A second-round pick of the 1987 draft, Johnny’s NFL career ended in 1993 after seven seasons.
But soon after his playing career came to a full stop, Johnny began his new life as a coach. He joined the Packers coaching team in 1995 as a defensive quality control. Since then, he has worked with six NFL teams, including the Texans, the Browns, and the Seahawks.
His role has been of position coach throughout this period. On average, a position coach takes home a salary of $500,000 in the NFL. But with his experience, Holland is undoubtedly earning more than the average salary with the 49ers.
